Hanna Verboom

You probably recognize Hanna Verboom from the big screen, but this remarkable woman has also spent years employing her talent to tell stories with the aim of giving back to the world. As well as being an actress, Hanna is also a filmmaker, founder of the foundation ‘Get it done’, co-owner of the sustainable interior brand Palais and founding director or the platform Cinetree. Not a bad list! That’s what we’d call a winning streak. No matter what Hanna does, stories (predominantly from people) remain at the fore. In all her daily tasks, consciousness and awareness of the world around her take center stage. And there’s always an element of giving back. Incredibly beautiful to see, even more beautiful to learn from...

Occupation
Filmmaker, Found of Get it done, Founder of Cinetree, Actress.

Speaking at The Self-Made Summit about…
enterprising business. What does that mean? Hanna: "When we talk about making an impact, sustainability and a better world, we sometimes forget that these major changes demand an even bigger mind shift. A mind shift from "what can I get out of this?" To "what can I give?".

At The Self-Made Summit, Hanna will explain how the concept of giving holds the power to make us happy. According to Hanna, happiness stems from the realization that we are contributing something, that we are of value to someone else. It has much less to do with our achievements and possessions. The idea that ‘giving’ is the road to happiness is not a new concept. Great thinkers such as Gandhi, Aristoteles and modern ones such as Dirk de Wachter have all agreed on one thing for years: that giving makes people happy. The concept is still as relevant as ever, so why have we not fully given in to it yet? Hanna gives her two cents on this and as well as telling you how you can make the mind shift yourself in order to concede.

We know her from
The first thing that comes to mind when you think of Hanna Verboom is probably the movies or TV. However over the years this actress has developed into so much more than that. Today she is best known for being a filmmaker and social entrepreneur.

As the daughter of community development workers, Hanna spent her childhood in East Africa. It was at a young age that she learned about the differences in the world, absorbing all the stories that accompany these and in turn being fascinated by them.

After a successful career as an actress, Hanna decided to give these stories the visibility they deserved; to use them for something bigger. Her next step was to start her foundation, ‘Get it done’. The foundation inspires young people with the help of impactful, honest stories, to help others.

Hanna also continued the thread of ‘storytelling’ in setting up Cinetree, an impressive and inspiring online film platform that she initiated and launched herself. The platform is similar to Netflix, however instead presenting a curated selection of inspiring films and sanguine documentaries.
